About Sophie

My name Is Sophie Stern and I have Down syndrome. I am twenty two years old. I have been dancing for eighteen years. I went to Glendale Community College from 2022-2025 and majored in dance. I danced in their dance company Verve Dance Company from 2024-2025. I danced at Dance Theater West from ages 3 to 19. I graduated from McClintock High School in 2022 and danced In high school for five years. 

I have acted with Detour Company Theatre since 2012 and i am now working for them as the head choreographer. At Detour I have choreographed Footloose, Mean Girls, and Bye Bye Birdie.  Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. and midsummer nights dream. next season I am choreographing Adams Family.

I currently work as a Sales Intern at The Bee’s Knees located in Phoenix, Arizona, and I am an advocate on the Arizona Developmental Disabilities Planning Council.

I am attending Mesa Community College this fall and majoring in dance. iam also attending at ASU in the spring In The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and focus on dance and chroreography my hobbies are dance I like listen to music on blast and I am a Taylor Swift fan. this fall I am going to volunter at the Boys and girls club of Arizona teaching dance.
